The QSpawn 1.63 Upgrade has been sitting on my HDD for a while and has one minor bug fix - QSpawn would generate an error if you tried to allocate more than 31 meg of RAM for Quake or QuakeWorld clients. Only users that need this level of memory allocation require this version. There are no other changes than this one bug fix.
I just wanted to clarify what is happening over the next month or so with QSpawn:
- Except for bug fixes, there will be no more versions of QSpawn 1.x - I am all done with this one.
- I will slowly be building some User Interface demos that you can all download and give me feedback. I will be radically changing QSpawn's UI so that it will be better and more flexible in the future.
- I am currently working on a Quake 2 mod, so this will be my primary focus for a while.
- After the mod, the UI tests will be implimented in QSpawn2 due out some time in the next four months (big range so I can cover my a$$ :)

QSpawn 1.62 is now available. The only changes from version 1.61 are some small visual fixes and enhancements to the DMFlags form. You can now see the DMFlag values dynamically.

OK, I am working on a new build of QSpawn to address some niggling little visual bugs. These are just little things that I have noticed and never taken the time to fix, but I am doing so now. Stay tuned...

I was informed of a strange occurance with QSpawn and the "Friendly Fire" setting on a Quake 2 server. Now it seems that for all of the settings in the Multiplayer Setup increases the value of the DMFlags when set to "Yes" - this is not true for Friendly Fire. Setting it to Yes in Quake 2 lowers the DMFlags value while checking "Friendly Fire" in QSpawn causes the value to increase. I have now changed the wording on the DMFlags screen in QSpawn to read "No Friendly Fire".
So, without much fanfare, QSpawn 1.61 is now available.

Here is a pretty funny image for you aspiring MCSE's. I was spellchecking an e-mail to a bud of mine.

Thanks to all of you that took the time to e-mail in your screen shots of being the 4000th (or closest to) visitor. The winner is John Slaughter. Congratulations, John. ckquote>
Thursday, March 5, 1998 While waiting for the Q2 3.14 source to be released, check out this cartoon from the strip Close To Home...

Oh yeah, since it was so cool last time... Free QSpawn registration code to the person who sends me in a screenshot of themselves as being the 4000th visitor (or closest to it). I don't need the whole screen, just the section at the top that shows the number.
Wednesday, March 4, 1998 No, I have not checked e-mail, yet. All I have had time for is to finalize version 1.60 of QSpawn. This should be it for this incarnation of QSpawn, and any other releases should address any wack-assed bugs that might be lingering somewhere. There haven't been any found in the last two builds, so I think its solid.
From here, I am starting to work on QSpawn version 2. I planning on a radical interface change as well as making QSpawn more flexible when it comes to launching games. When QSpawn was first started, all I needed it to do was start "quake.exe" - now look where I ended up. I will get some sample builds going of some interface ideas that can be downloaded for your criticism. Stay tuned...
